Den Haag and Fonds Podiumkunsten grant funds application

After our most comprehensive season ever, with a wonderful finale in Leipzig, it was almost time to wish you a good summer. But that summer could only really begin after announcing the recommendations on our multi-annual arts policy plan for the period 2025 - 2028 to the municipality of The Hague and the Performing Arts Fund. An exciting moment for us, and for all fellow companies across the field.

Funds granted

Our multi-year policy plan 2025 - 2028 has been positively assessed by the advisory committees. The advisory committee of the Performing Arts Fund is 'convinced of OPERA2DAY's craftsmanship', while the advisory committee of the municipality of The Hague is 'enthusiastic' about the 'clear elaboration of the artistic vision'.

'Clear own signature'

The Performing Arts Fund rates the artistic quality of OPERA2DAY as more than sufficient. '[The advisory committee] knows Hernán Schvartzman as a musical director with extensive knowledge of the various musical styles that underpin the company's work. Serge van Veggel has more than earned his spurs in musical theatre as a director.' OPERA2DAY's productions have 'a high level of performance' and are characterised by a 'clear own signature'.

SOCIAL THEMES

OPERA2DAY realises 'large-scale and complex productions with great skill', according to The Hague's advisory committee, in which 'relevant stories [...] can make social themes palpable', which are 'highly successful in reaching a wide and diverse audience'. In this, OPERA2DAY is 'innovative by adding other art disciplines, extending opera to the foyer and the way the audience is involved in the performances'.

Don't let the curtain come down: join in!

There was also good news for almost all partners with whom OPERA2DAY plans to work in the coming period. But in the sector, unfortunately, there are also many parties who were not allocated funds, even often with a positive assessment. To support them and motivate the government to still support these companies, the campaign has been set up Don't let the curtain come down (Laat het doek niet vallen). You can sign the petition there to support them, which we heartily recommend.
