A love declaration to the earth

NOW WE ARE EARTH is the grand future vision of choreographer and theater maker Nicole Beutler. Music and dance, choir and audience come together in this eco-futuristic harmony for greater connectedness. With a team of eight dancer-singers and a city choir of 45, this 100-minute piece will be a happening of voices and moving togetherness—a dream of a possible future.

The piece celebrates interconnectedness and explores the search for balance between the five realms: animal, human, plant, fungus, and technology. NOW WE ARE EARTH promises to be a total work of art—a dance opera featuring a local city choir, with an essential role for the audience. Inspired by the endless and intricate connections of fungal threads in a mycelium network, all performers together create a polyphonic, resonant web of colors and sounds, unfolding like an ever-repeating and branching pattern.

NOW WE ARE EARTH / An Orchestra represents the third phase of the alchemical process of creating gold, known as the red phase, rubedo. Following the destruction of the old world in GINKGO or: 56 million years ago there were palm trees on the North Pole (Part 1) and a period of recovery in ATMEN / evolution is silently unfolding (Part 2), NOW WE ARE EARTH is an attempt to find a new balance on the path toward a unified world.

In times dominated by apocalyptic scenarios, theater offers us the opportunity to envision a future for humanity on this planet. With this trilogy, Beutler presents alternative perspectives—looking beyond fear, embracing change, and generating potential for healing, all while offering a hopeful vision for humanity’s future on Earth. Is the experience of a new equilibrium a foolish fantasy or a visionary proposal?

NOW WE ARE EARTH is a futuristic dream, a Monte Verità of the future, a union of opposites. A resonance with the shared, inexhaustible energy of the sun—an energy that is ever-present and never lost.
