Extras wanted for La Révolution de Carmen
This September, OPERA2DAY presents a revolutionary take on Bizet’s opera Carmen. At the heart of the production shines none other than mezzo-soprano Tania Kross. The performance will be shown exclusively at Amare in The Hague.
La Révolution de Carmen is set during the turbulent time of the Paris Commune in 1871—a period marked by the fight for freedom and equality. The experience goes beyond the main theatre hall. During intermission, the audience flows into the foyers and is transported to the era of the Commune. There will be scaffolding sprayed with graffiti, choirs singing as they roam, and amateur actors reenacting the lively streets of Paris.
And you can be part of it!
Who are we looking for?
For each performance, we’re looking for 12 amateur actors (ages 15–40*) to play small roles in the foyers during the intermission. You might act as a newspaper vendor, hand out special commune-themed drinks, invite audience members to sign petitions, or portray a Red Cross worker collecting donations. It’s important that you feel confident approaching people in character and can improvise when needed.
*Note: Are you just outside the target age range (15–40) but still eager to join? We invite you to fill out the registration form anyway. We’ll place you on a waiting list and may be able to offer you a spot later on.
What do you get from us?
You’ll get the chance to be part of this immersive experience at Amare—a unique, educational, and above all, fun opportunity. To prepare, you’ll receive a theatre workshop led by one of our instructors. You’ll also receive a free ticket to the performance in the main hall, and the chance to invite family or friends at a discounted rate.
