Ticket sales for The Opera Circus at the Koninklijke Schouwburg in The Hague have begun! Tickets are available through Het Nationale Theater. Following the premiere, the production will go on tour to the major theatres across the Netherlands.
For this vibrant and melancholic production, OPERA2DAY once again joins forces with the Netherlands Bach Society. The Opera Circus is a tribute to the grandmaster of dramatic music, George Frideric Handel, and the spectacular theatre of his time. In his work, furious and moving arias alternated seamlessly. With dazzling stagecraft and rapid scene changes, audiences were visually enchanted. By blending these historical theatre techniques with contemporary circus, the magic of baroque opera is brought to life once more.
In the performance, we witness two gods entangled in an age-old feud. In an apocalyptic landscape, they fiercely battle each other. Their struggle seems endless—until a traveling circus troupe unexpectedly arrives. From that moment on, everything begins to change. Innocent, playful, and full of hope, the young performers breathe new life into the world. Colour returns, love blossoms. A happy ending is on the horizon!
