Start auditions 'The Opera Circus': Opera Meets Acrobatics
In our new opera, The Opera Circus, OPERA2DAY once again joins forces with the Nederlandse Bachvereniging. The Bachvereniging and OPERA2DAY previously toured together twice, playing to sold-out theaters.
COLLABORATION TO REPEAT ONCE MORE
The performances were embraced by both audiences and critics. The approach could ‘not be praised enough’ (De Volkskrant on Vivaldi – Dangerous Liaisons) and led to a ‘full-blooded opera’ (NRC on J.S. Bach – The Apocalypse). OPERA2DAY’s artistic director Serge van Veggel once again develops the concept and direction, in collaboration with specialized circus creator Aedín Walsh. The musical director of the opera company, Hernán Schvartzman, conducts the musicians of the Bachvereniging and the soloists, ensuring an instrumental and vocal fireworks display.
CHALLENGING REHEARSALS
In The Opera Circus, not only the beautiful compositions of George Frideric Handel come to life, but also the spectacle theater of his time is revived. This production combines singing and acrobatics, with both disciplines seamlessly blending together. For the singers, this presents a unique challenge, as they must not only excel vocally, but also be at home in contemporary circus acrobatics. The first auditions took place on January 28. Starting in January 2026, The Opera Circus will be seen and heard in theaters.
